The 2030 Agenda Transformation Fund is a new fund commissioned in 2018 by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) supporting innovative ways of stimulating transformation required for achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 by:
- Aligning policies and processes with the 2030 Agenda;
- Mobilizing domestic resources and private investments for sustainable development;
and, - Capacity building for monitoring and reviewing the 2030 Agenda.
The Philippines is committed to achieving the SDGs by 2030. With 17 targets and 244 indicators, the SDGs require the concerted effort of several government agencies in tandem with local government units (LGUs).
LGUs are challenged to translate the overwhelming amount of data from various government agencies to usable information that will guide them in identifying effective development strategies, prioritizing scarce resources and mobilizing subnational government and private sector support.
In line with this, the German Ministry approved JVOFI’s proposal entitled “Mobilizing Investments and Community Participation in SDGs through GeoMapping in the Philippines” which will be implemented from November 16, 2018 to November 15, 2019.
